Hi Belle :)
I have decided not to let people like that get me down. I am proud to have learned the value of a hard days work from my parents, and I will feel no shame.
Good for your husband for working hard to help his children get an education! We must rise above the way people somehow feel it is appropriate to speak to those who do the true labor.

That almost sounds like master-to-slave talk. It wasn't ok then, and it isn't now. My husband (who is very well-educated) took a part-time additional job as a janitor for 5 years to help put our kids through college. It was truly amazing the crap people would say to him, like he was stupid or something because he was pushing a broom. I cannot understand why people say such hurtful things to others and think that it's ok to do so.

Enjoy the beach!
