to help pay the bills is bad enough, but when the person I was working for turned to me and said, “You really have no education, do you?” it was all I could do to not walk out, to not say something extremely rude, to not kill her silence her with my own bare hands… I don’t need this shit.
TAXI!!!! Can I go now? I leave Sunday for the beach! Woohoo!

That almost sounds like master-to-slave talk. It wasn’t ok then, and it isn’t now. My husband (who is very well-educated) took a part-time additional job as a janitor for 5 years to help put our kids through college. It was truly amazing the crap people would say to him, like he was stupid or something because he was pushing a broom. I cannot understand why people say such hurtful things to others and think that it’s ok to do so.
Enjoy the beach!

Hi Belle
I have decided not to let people like that get me down. I am proud to have learned the value of a hard days work from my parents, and I will feel no shame.
Good for your husband for working hard to help his children get an education! We must rise above the way people somehow feel it is appropriate to speak to those who do the true labor.
